August

Keep removing dead heads from flowers such as bedding etc.
Stop feeding most hardy plants otherwise they continue growing into the Autumn which makes them vulnerable to winter damage. The soft shots should be allowed to ripen and toughen.
Many bedding plants are starting to look tired so keep an eye out for new seasons pansies, violas etc.
It is still an excellent time to plant shrubs, herbaceous etc. as the soil is still warm.
Keep feeding birds with seed and peanuts.
Try different foods as an experiment to see if this attracts new visitors to the garden. We at Frasers stock food for Robins, Thrushes, Blackbirds, Blue Tits and Sparrows.
